Pearls and Corals which are also included among gemstones are of animal origin.

There are nine planets in Vedic Astrology and corresponding to these there are nine main gemstones, which are termed as Navratans.

The word Navratan means nine gems and each of these is governed by a planet, these are described below. If in a birth chart any planet is weak in strength then its strength can be increased by wearing the corresponding gemstone.

It is very important that the gemstone must touch the skin of the wearer from underneath the ring only then it’s vibrations will pass on to the wearer.

Before wearing the ring it can be purified by immersing in a mixture of Honey, Cow Milk, Curd, Pure Ghee and Sugar after that rinse it in water.

One must get advice of an expert before wearing any gemstone because wearing a gemstone corresponding to a malefic or unfavorable planet as per a native’s birth chart can be harmful.
