Vishwanathan Anand is an Indian chess Grandmaster and former World Chess Champion. He was born on 11th December 1969 at Mayiladuthurai in Tamil Nadu state of India.
He has been the acknowledged World Chess Champion from 2007 to 2013. He has won the World Chess Championship five times in 2000, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012. He has also won the Chess Oscar six times in his career (1997, 1998, 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008).
