Effect of Mantras over Mind and Senses

All Mantras originate from the primordial divine sound of OM. Even the Christian Bible mentions about the sound of OM as “Sound from heaven like that of many waters”…

Mind-Senses

It is surprising that the west does not believe in the esoteric knowledge of the wise East, but even the Christian Bible is full of such knowledge. The chapter of Revelations is not at all understood by the material minded west. The truth is that Jesus had come to India and Tibet and was trained in spiritual science by sages of India and Tibet.

“Then I heard a sound from heaven like that of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. The sound I heard was like harpists playing on their harps.”
-International Standard Version of Bible (Revelation 14:2)

The sound of many waters is the sound of OM which one can hear in deep trance state. I (the author of this article) can say from my own experience that it does resemble the loud thunder of great water falls. (Note: The author of this article has heard the sound of Om in deep meditative state).

What is a Mantra?

In Sanskrit our scriptures define mantra as, ‘Mananattrayateitimantrah’ which means that by repetition of which you can overcome the bondage of birth-death-rebirth cycles is called a mantra.

There are many potent mantras such as:

“Om NamahShivaya”

“Om NamoNarayanaya”

“Om manipadme hum”

The Gayatri mantra is a tribute to the ever existing inner Sun of consciousness, the word Gayatri is defined as ‘gayantamtrayateitigayatri’ which means that which protects the one who recitesit.

How Mantras affect the Mind and Senses?

A mantra is like a seed. Just as every seed has the potential to become a tree, a mantra due to its meaning and associated vibrations is sown in the fertile land of sub-conscious mind and can do wonders by blossoming into a tree of self-realisation.

By recitation of appropriate mantras one can reverse the outward flow of current in the senses. Our senses are always going outward in order to interact with the physical world. By mantra recitation and deep meditation this flow of sense currents can be internalised for going into trance state and ultimate goal of self-realisation.
