A Yoga Posture for Slim-Trim Body and Healthy Mind

Yoga Posture – Halasana is a Hatha Yoga Asana, which is very easy to do and carries many benefits. A regular practice of this asana (posture) improves physical and mental health and increases sexual stamina.

The name Halasana is derived from ‘Hala’ which in Sanskrit and Hindi means a plough which a peasant uses to dig the ground to make it soft for sowing the seeds. Similarly this asana removes stiffness of body. Do this asana empty stomach at any time.

How to do this Asana

Step 1: Lie down in supine position as shown in sketch -1, place hands on sides with palms down.
Breathe normally.

Step 2: Stretch the whole body and while pressing down the hands slowly lift up the legs while smoothly inhaling through nostrils. It is important that you lift up the legs slowly and not with a jerk. Do not lift up your head. Legs should be straight up with feet stretched out as per sketch-2.

Step 3: Now while exhaling through open mouth and pressing down the hands lift up your torso and toss your legs over your head as in sketch-3.

Step 4: Stretch the legs so that toes go as far as possible and touch the toes on the ground as per sketch -4. Close eyes and focus attention at your vishudha chakra (throat centre), try to stay in this position for at least 30 seconds to one minute.

Now while supporting the waist with both hands return slowly to the position of step 1.Breathing normally relax for a while and slowly get up.
