Kalabhairav Jayanti

Kalabhairav-Jayanti

Kaal Bahiravashtami. According to the Shivpurana’s Shat-rudra Sanhita, Lord Shiva had taken incarnation of Bhairava on the Ashtami (eighth day) of the Sheersh months’s Krishna paksha.

Why celebrating Kalabhairav Jayanti?

Lord Shiva has two forms, one is as Vishveshvara- who is giving life and protection to the people and other is as Kaal Bhairava- to punish the wicked. Where Lord Shiva’s form of Vishveshvar is extremely quiet and gentle natured, the form of Kaal Bhairava is highly terrible and monstrous. According to the Shivpurana’s Shat-rudra Sanhita, Lord Shiva had taken incarnation of Bhairava on the Ashtami (eighth day) of the Sheersh months’s Krishna paksha.
