Welcome

It's great to see you here at TruthStar,
our new site dedicated to Indian Astrology, Indian
Culture and building bridges through the fusion of
Indian and Western ideas. The first thing you'll need
to do: add us to your favorites right
now before you forget. There's no way you'll absorb
everything we have to offer in just one visit... There's
new material each and every week!
My
name is Rob Tillett and I am the publisher of TruthStar,
http://www.truthstar.com.
I am also the publisher of the popular Western Astrology
site, Astrology on the Web, http://www.astrologycom.com,
which is our sister site, based in Australia. However,
TruthStar will be based in India and I am at this
moment in India to experience the fabulous festivity
of Diwali and to launch TruthStar on the auspicious
day of Dhanteras. The idea of TruthStar arose via
my interest in all things mystical, astrological and
Indian, so in conjunction with some Indian colleagues,
I have started this exciting new project, where we
will explore many aspects of life's mysteries, including
Yoga, Pranic Healing, oracular forecasting using Prashnavali,
Tarot etc and of course, Astrology.
Indian (Vedic) style horoscopes can also be purchased
on this site at very reasonable prices, from leading
Indian astrologers, including Bejan Daruwalla, S.
Ganesh, and particularly Uma Shankar Shukla, a popular
contributor to Astrology on the Web. Uma Shankar in
fact was one of the few leading astrologers to correctly
predict the victory of President G.W. Bush in the
recent US elections, so you can see that his predictions
are on the money.
I would also like to praise our technical staff.
This major project could never have even got off the
ground were it not for the excellent work of our project
manager and senior programmer, Amit Gupta. Amit has
spent many hours developing all the functions that
allow this website to give you the info you need,
when you want it. He has also sourced much of the
content and has liaised with our astrologers in Delhi
and supervised the design work, including the splendid
work of our chief designer, Vinay Sharma.
Two Great Systems
There are two great systems of astrology in widespread
use today, the Western Tropical system that we use
on Astrology on the Web and the Vedic Sidereal model
that is primarily used in India and among Indian communities
throughout the world. We feature this method, called
Jyotish (light) on TruthStar. On TruthStar we will
also feature a fusion of Jyotish and Western techniques,
to gain the very best possible perspective on the
upcoming events. Indeed it is one of our main contributors,
researcher Ram Ramakrishnan, who is a leading light
in this fusion approach and he is currently designing
a new astrological computer program that will be ready
for use in some eighteen months, if all goes according
to plan.
Various articles from contributors throughout the
world will also be featured, but we will seek to maintain
an Indian perspective. TruthStar is still in the latest
stages of development, so the look will change over
coming weeks, but our puja (ceremony) to launch the
site on the evening of Dhanteras (Nov 10) went well
and called in some cosmic aid for us from the celestial
beings!
Let's look at some of the articles that are on line
now:
Diwali:
Festival of Lights
The best-known of the Hindu festivals, Diwali is
celebrated throughout India, at the New Moon in the
month Kartika (october/november), as well as in Indian
communities throughout the world. This year it happens
on November 12. It is known as the "festival
of lights", for people traditionally light small
oil lamps (called diyas) and place them around the
home, in courtyards, verandahs and gardens, as well
as on roof-tops and outer walls. The celebration of
the festival always features the exchange of sweets
and the enjoyment of fireworks. Basically, this is
a seasonal, astrological festival marking the transition
from the old lunar year to the new in Hindu India,
but it has many other symbolic meanings. Click to

Mangalik
Dosha.
When we read the matrimonial ads in the paper in
India, people are often seeking either mangalik, or
non-mangalik partners. Mangalik (manglik) means "strong
Mars" and someone with strong Mars (ie who is
mangalik) needs a partner who also has strong Mars,
or one will dominate the other to a great degree.
Only an astrologer can determine this for you. Ritu
Shukla informs us that Mars is a cruel planet astrologically.
Mars is a natural significator of courage, aggression,
violence, property, and co-borns to name a few. In
terms of marriage it acquires supreme importance as
here it signifies passion, the husband, the marital
knot, sex, etc. Moreover, the role of Mars in the
generation of children cannot be underestimated. Read

Dosha.
Prashnavali Oracle
The Ramacharitamanas Prashnavali
was originally created by the Hindu Saint Tulsidas,
born in Rajpur in Uttar Pradesh in the sixteenth century.
Famed as a poet and believed to be an incarnation
of Valmiki, the author of the ancient Sanskrit epic
Ramayana, Tulsidas is one of the most beloved figures
in Indian history. He is widely credited with a revival
of religion through his books, especially the inspired
poetic reshaping (in Hindi) of the Ramayana in his
Ram-charit-manas. The Prashnavali has been viewed
over the centuries as a gift to mankind, for it gives
divinely inspired answers to your most important questions.
