Why only Durga Saptshati in Navratri?
Why only Saptshati is being recited for hymns(Stotra) of Maa Durga?
Durga Saptshati falls under the Markandeya's mythology (from 63rd chapter to 90th chapter). Once Sage Kaushthaki asked to Saint Markandeya about the origin of the real movable world and about the Adams (Manu/Aadi Purush). After explaining about the seven Adams, Saint Markandey explained Durga Saptshati, the glory of the mightiness of Bhagwati Paramba as the eighth Adam.
The question is very obvious for the devotees of Maa Durga that how to offer prayers to her, for the devotees who are amazed by knowing her magnificent glory. Maa Durga's thousands of hymns are described in Vaidic, Cosmic, Sanskrit and local languages. For devotees, it is more difficult to select the best one. Vaidic axioms are less Lucrative in present time, because Vedic terms are more difficult to chant without having any educational training. And, that is the reason path of voo-doo (Tantrick) is best than vaidic path. The hymn of local languages are not as much as effective than Sanskrit because this language is used by the Gods and it is their favorite language. The Sanskrit language is also known as the language of Gods.
In Sanskrit, there are three kinds of hymns: 1) By Saints and Sages
2) By other poets and
3) Self composed.
The hymns by Saints and Sages are the most effective among all; and that too of Bhagwati Paramba's by Markandeya Saptashati most important.
Hence,
Durga Saptashati is best for all devotees to get best results of their prayers.
