Let FengShui bring Harmonyto Your House in 2012!
FengShui pronounced as “Fung Schway’ is an ancient Chinese system for living in harmony with nature.
‘Feng’ means Wind or Air and ‘Shui’ means Water. The wise ancient Chinese believed in an invisible form of energy which they called ‘Chi’. They perceived that this subtle energy was carried by the wind and it stopped at the boundaries of water. So they devised this science of manipulating and harnessing the ‘Chi’ energy and appropriately named it as FengShui.
The FengShui Bagua Map…
The FengShui Bagua Map is usually shown as an octagonal (Eight Sided) shape. The word Bagua consists of two words viz. ‘Ba’ meaning eight and ‘Gua’ meaning areas. There are eight sides shown in their characteristic colours and the ninth is the central area shown circular with the FengShui symbol of Yin/Yang.
So any structure is divided into nine areas with their directional and other properties.
For practical purposes and ease of use the eight sided Bagua Map can be converted into a square outer shape with nine equal square shaped areas inside it.

Using The Bagua Map to locate Various Areas …
Before we can put the Fengshui principles to our benefit we need to locate various energy areas of our house. Just align the bottom line of the above square Bagua Map with the main entrance of your house. The top side of the Map indicates the far or back side of your house The main entrance side is also called the ‘Mouth of Chi’ and the Chi energy is supposed to flow-in from this side.
The nine areas as per the Bagua Map are governed by one of the five Elements viz. Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. Each area has its favourable colours and assigned characteristic functions as mentioned in the above sketch.
Each square area is also marked with a number from 1 to 9. These numbers are as per the Magic Square numbers and give numerical representation of each area.
Setting your house as per the Bagua Map can bring more harmony in your life. Just for example a bed room for the married couple in the top right corner will help in harmonising the marital relationship. Use of recommended colours such as Yellow, Orange, Apricot and Peach in this area will add to the harmonising effect of this area.
The same Bagua Map can be utilized for setting up your room as per the FengShui principles in case you are living in a single room. Just align the bottom line with the main entrance of your room and assign different areas for various functions as per the map.
The Effect of ‘Water Dragon’ Year …
The Year 2012, as per the Chinese calendar is the year of the Water Dragon (Refer to our article 2012 Chinese Year of the Water Dragon). So during this year the middle of the main entrance side of your house as highlighted in blue in the Bagua sketch will play prominent role. Utilize this area of your house as much as possible particularly for the indicated functions viz. Career, Beginnings, Journeys. Anyone in the family preparing for a career related examination, competition or interview etc. can utilize this area for necessary preparation.
In case you are thinking of beginning a new business or any other venture then utilize this area for all your work. And if you are planning a journey or preparing for one then again use this space for all related preparations.
You can further enhance this area and cause smooth flow of the Chi energy by placing a Water-Fall on the right side of the main entrance inside the room. The fountain should be so placed that the water falls towards the inside of the house so that wealth and good energy flows in and all negative energy is deflected out.
Small Indoor Water Falls
Also investing on a small Fish Aquarium will help you harness some positive energy and attract good luck and wealth during this year of the Water Dragon in particular.
You can place the aquarium in the north, east and northeast directions of your drawing room. FengShuidoes not recommend placing an aquarium in bedroom or kitchen.
Orange, silver and black coloured fishes are good and this year it will be a good idea to also add some Dragon-Fish. If your aquarium has all coloured fishes then see that at least one is of black colour also as it will help in absorbing the negative energy.

An indoor fish aquarium brings positive energy, good luck and wealth
