Gaja-Kesari Yoga of Vedic Astrology

The Gaja-Kesari Yoga of Vedic astrology is one of the auspicious Yogas. The article describes important issues about this Yoga…..

Gaja-Kesari

The Gaja-Kesari Yoga is formed if the planet Jupiter (Ju*) occupies a square house viz. the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house with respect to the natal Moon.

Since the position of Jupiter is to be seen with respect to the natal Moon it is best to observe this Yoga in the Moon Chart which is also called the Rashi Chart.

Gaja-Kesari Yoga is formed with Respect to Moon only

Authentic Gaja-Kesari Yoga is formed only when Jupiter is in 1st, 4th, 7th or 10 houses with respect to the natal Moon. Look for this Yoga with respect to the Rashi or Moon ascendant and not the usual ascendant (Lagan) in a birth chart.

General Results of Gaja-Kesari Yoga

The astrological treatises state that as a result of this Yoga one may build villages and towns. As life conditions and life style changes with time we need to interpret the results as per present times. The native may occupy a position of authority in municipality or a government body responsible for building cities and villages. In a broad sense one may be an engineer in a civic body, magistrate, collector, mayor etc.

Presence of this Yoga has been observed in many rich and influential persons in private sector also. Jupiter in general signifies wealth, fame, children and righteous living whereas Moon signifies mind, mobility, happiness and prosperity etc.

Strength of the Yoga

In general one can expect auspicious results, but only presence of this Yoga is not sufficient, the Yoga must carry strength also.

If this yoga is formed with Jupiter in the Capricorn sign then because of Jupiter’s debilitation the yoga loses strength and full auspicious results cannot be expected.

Also if Jupiter occupies Taurus, Gemini, Virgo or Libra signs then this yoga becomes weak since then Jupiter is in its enemy’s sign.

Similarly if the natal Moon is weak due to its debilitation (placed in Scorpio sign) or placement in its enemy’s sign viz. Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Capricorn or Aquarius then also this yoga loses strength.

When Can the Results be expected?

Presence of a strong Gaja-Kesari Yoga in a birth chart is very auspicious and gives good luck and prosperity, but its prominent results may fructify during the combined sub and main periods of Jupiter and Moon.
