The importance of the Makar Sankrani increases because on this day Sun is reaching to that point from where he transmits his all positive energy to the human body. According to our mythology, the Mahalaxmi was appeared on the day of Makar Sankarani. She was appeared at the time of churning the sea by the Gods, after the war between Gods and Demons. At that time she was an unmarried girl. From where she was originated from the Sea, that place was named as 'Kanya Kumari'. It is placed in the south corner of the India. It is the place where three Seas are combining and the best Temple of Kanya Kumari is situated.While churning the Sea fourteen gemstones were found and Goddess Mahalaxmi was the one out of the fourteen gemstones. Because she was and unmarried girl, temple of Kanya Kumari has been built for Maha Lakshmi's unmarried form. The holy ground has been formed for the temple and since then hundreds of thousands of devotees are visiting and worshiping in Maha Lakshmi temple.
After Mahalaxmi's evolution, Lord Vishnu appeared at the sea shore and he accepted Mahalakshi as his wife. They got married at the sea shore and this time is called 'Makar Sankranti'; and this day is very important.
