Worship Lord Ganesha on Ganesh Chaturthi
Lord Ganesha is a Universal Favourite around the globe. The smiling Elephant Face fills you with inexplicable joy and optimism. He is hailed as “Remover of all obstacles.” It is traditional practice to begin any new venture only after propitiating Lord Ganesha in the belief that the task will proceed without major obstacles.
Performing special worship to Lord Ganesha on the day of His Genesis is very auspicious. In fact this is one of the mandatory Naimittika Vrattams ordained in Indian traditions. You can chant simple mantras on Lord Ganesha as per your convenience throughout the day. Those who are initiated into vedic mantras can chant "Ganapathy Atharvaseersham." Those who can chant the Ganesha Sahasranaamam can do so, as this is said to be even more efficacious than the Ganapathy Moola mantra!
Countless benefits are attributed to that recital.
Chanting the Sangashtanaashana Mahaganapathy sthothram found in Naarada Puraanam on this day can be very auspicious.
Others who do not know such mantras/ slokhas can chant simple mantras like "Om Vigneshwaraaya namah," "Om Ganapataye namah", "Om Vinaayakaaya namah," etc. throughout the day.
Simple mantras on Lord Ganesha for fulfillment of certain desires below:
1) "Om Vakrathundaya hum" - For general progress and removal of all negativities in life.
2) "Om Kliim Gloum Paarvati Putraaya namah" (meditate on Lord Ganesha seated on Goddess Parvathy's lap; Lord Maheshwara hugging His beloved wife around Her hips)- For progenic happiness.
3) "Om Vinaayakaaya namah" - for getting leadership qualities.
4) "Om Sumukhaaya namah" - (Meditate on Lord Ganapathy having Ladhus in hand and wearing goldern yellow robes) for securing goodwill of everyone.
5) "Om Dhoomaketave namah" - for overcoming the negative effects of adverse dasa-bhuktis, bad omens, etc.
6) "Om Skanda Poorvajaaya namah" - for improving cordiality between siblings.
7) "Om Herambhaaya namah" (Meditation should be on 5-faced Lord Ganapathy seated on a Lion and wearing Red robes) - for overcoming activities of enemies, removal of black-magic and other negativities, and for general improvement in one's courage/ valour.
Those who can afford a homam (havan) may have it organized exclusively for the welfare of their families at their residences. Others may take part in Mass Homams organized for the welfare of everyone on that day.
There are other powerful mantras like Vakrathunda maala mantra, Maha Ganapathy Mangala Maalika sthothra, etc. also on Lord Ganesha which are very auspicious and help natives who are suffering from Ketu dasa or bhuktis.
