Sleep is very important. It is more important than what doctors say, because doctors do not believe in the existence of Astral body inside our physical body. It is a fact that during deep sleep a normal person’s Psyche with his or her astral body goes out of the physical body. The psyche can go into the astral world and watch whether the entity is moving on the right path in life or not. It can pass on this important feedback on its return to the physical body, to the sub-conscious mind which in turn can guide the conscious mind. So sleep has spiritual benefits as well and these are very important for our evolution.

Sleep is important because:

(1) An adequate and sound sleep every day is the best medicine for many diseases.
(2) Sound sleep and rest in night repairs damaged cells of the body and removes tiredness.
(3) Sleep gives strength, nourishment and life source.

Following are some important points and tips for enjoying good sleep:

* Always remember God before go to sleep. Then stretch yourself on the bed properly. It helps to have nice sleep and creates new energy & strength in the body.
* If have trouble in falling asleep then make a paste of sandalwood (chandan) and apply the paste on your forehead.
* Roast seeds of water melon in ghee and eat about a teaspoonful of this every evening.
* If you suffer from lack of sleep then roast an onion on fire and drink its juice for a week.
* Always Use a silver glass for drinking water.
* Recite for 108 times the following mantra just before going to bed at night for sound sleep:

‘Ya Devi sarvbhooteshu nidra roopeyen sansthita,

Namastasye, namastsye, namastasye namo namaha’


*Avoid tranquilizers, sleeping pills, and start reading a story book while in bed, soon you will get tired and fall asleep.
*Avoid alcoholic drinks and heavy meals just before sleeping time.

A Mystic Ritual as a cure for Nightmares: If you suffer from nightmares then on the first Saturday of bright half phase of Moon, in the morning add powdered sugar to a glass of fresh milk and pour it on the root of a black berry tree (jamun). Also offer kheer (sweet rice cooked in milk) in a temple on every no Moon day (amavasya).
